It’s not what you think, allow me to clarify.
2025 Premiere at Tanzfaktur in co-production with Studiobühne Köln as a West Off Festival recipient
“It’s not what you think, allow me to clarify” opens a dialogue about the reasoning of relocation, taking refuge and immigration- especially for those that are from developing countries and are people of colour.

Ensuring that there is not a disregard for the other half of our reality, being that we are from wrecked nations, recovering from colonial turmoil and corrupt leadership. Our core embodies potential, resource and rebirth.
This work serves as a vital conversation at any given time, but especially now, as the West locks down on immigration. The intent is to clarify the notion of immigration, debunk stereotypes and re-assess the dependency on white saviourism. The discussion is layered and explains why one migrates to seek “a better life.” Yasmine works closely with the concept of colonial consequence and the primal instinct of survival.
