Yasmine Calasse is a South African-Moroccan Contemporary and Hip-Hop dancer and upcoming choreographer based in Köln, Germany. Holding education from the dance factory in Johannesburg, Gibney and Peridance Center in NYC. She is highly influenced and inspired by her background in the Street dance scene, nurturing this connection in her work by remaining politically and socially conscious and voicing matters of importance.
As a dancer and choreographer, she is invested in the organic embodiment of play, texture and groove. As a choreographer, her signature movement language is carried out in strong physicality, body percussion and grounded rhythmic choreography.
Notably, Yasmine has exhibited her work “Confinement” on Cape Town’s Western Province building and was a recipient of West Off 2025 with her production “It’s not what you think, allow me to clarify.” As a dancer Yasmine has worked with choreographers, namely, Willie Stark, Stephanie Thiersch, Ching- Ching Wong, Ihsan Rustem, Jennifer Archibald, Elisabetta Minutoli , Rayboom and Jasmin Halper. Yasmine is a co-producer at AFIA and the founder of ReIgnite Sessions. In 2026, Yasmine presented a new work in progress “Passed down to Transcend” and is researching for her new co-production “Samp and beans with my aunt.”
